On August 9, the third round of the 2026 TCR China Touring Car Championship concluded in Ordos. Facing intense track competition and unpredictable race dynamics, Teamwork Motorsport drivers Li Guanghua and Martin Foo gave their all, pushing for breakthroughs amid a chaotic race weekend.
In Sunday’s Race 2, Martin Foo kept his cool through complex track conditions to secure runner-up in the Rookie Cup, earning his first podium finish of the season. Notably, Martin Foo is both an elite driver honed through the Teamwork Racing School’s advanced training course and a long-time owner of the Lynk & Co 03+ TCR. This podium appearance was not only a complete release of the race car’s potential, but also a crowning achievement of the driver’s skill and resolve.
Strong Qualifying Position Leads to Intense Battle in Race 1
During Friday’s qualifying session, both Teamwork Motorsport drivers demonstrated strong, consistent lap times. Powered by the Lynk & Co 03+ TCR, Li Guanghua secured 3rd overall, while Martin Foo qualified 7th, putting both drivers in the front row for races.
In Race 1, Li Guanghua started from the front row, forming a leading pack alongside his Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport teammates while battling hard for a podium spot. However, near the end of the race, after a prolonged wheel-to-wheel fight, Li’s car suffered a sudden mechanical failure, forcing him to retire from contention.
Meanwhile, Martin Foo was locked in a hard-fought battle in the mid-pack. On lap 10, contact with an opponent during a battle for position shifted the race dynamics, bringing out the Safety Car and disrupting the rhythm. Once racing resumed, Foo kept pushing and finished 4th in the Rookie Cup, falling just short of the podium.
Breakthrough in Race 2: Martin Foo Takes First Podium of the Season
In Sunday’s Race 2, a major crash occurred right at the start. Li Guanghua was hit by an out-of-control car from the side and was forced to retire. Martin Foo managed to avoid the incident in time, keeping his car out of harm’s way.
After the restart, Foo remained patient, keeping his composure and driving at a controlled pace rather than launching an immediate attack. Despite briefly losing position to a Honda driver during the race, Foo fought back determinedly to reclaim the lost ground and held his ground all the way to the checkered flag. Ultimately, Foo finished 5th overall and took 2nd place in the Rookie Cup to claim his spot on the podium.
Reflecting on Race 2, Martin Foo said: “I took the lessons from Race 1 to heart, which helped me stay focused and patient in Race 2 to hold my place in the lead group. This feels like a solid proof of progress, and I’m starting to adapt to the rhythm of the new car. Securing this result is a great start for me.”
