The 2016 season proved to be an impressive debut in the TCR Asia season for Teamwork Motorsport, with Kevin Tse claiming Amateur Drivers’ title and second overall in the championship. Now Teamwork Motorsport is ready for a differing challenge.
After considering all logistical and resource options, Teamwork Motorsport has opted to switch to the brand new TCR China series to fully utilise the team’s strengths. The new series is expected to attract a lot of new independent competitors from the Chinese region.
The race calendar covers circuits in Ordos, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, from June to December, as well as an invitation race for the Macau GP in November.
Moreover, the TCR China is adapting a three-race format per weekend, two of them being sprint races and the third one being an one hour race, with the option of a driver change during the 30-minute pit window.
This new race format allows the team more opportunities when signing drivers. Teamwork Motorsport is therefore going to enter at least three VW Golf GTi’s, all of which updated to the latest 2017 package.
Further information regarding the full driver line-up will be announced in the near future.
