Teamwork Motorsport expects to face a steep climb to the podium in the SINOPEC LUBRICANTS China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) at the Shanghai International Circuit (SIC) this weekend (24-25 September).
The SINOPEC LUBRICANTS China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) visited Teamwork Motorsport’s home Guangdong International Circuit at the weekend and the team’s red Citroen C-Elysees once again displayed exceptional speed, boosted by a change in the series’ Balance of Performance (BoP).
Teamwork harnessed its Citroen C-Elysees’ exceptional pace to race to pole position, a win and third place finish in the previous round of the CTCC at the Guangdong International Circuit (GIC), although the results were somewhat diluted by an unfortunate double DNF in the weekend’s final race.
However, as a consequence of their success, both Teamwork Motorsport Citroens will be hit by turbo boost reduction in a Balance of Performance adjustment at the SIC, which is characterised by a 1km-long back straight that places the emphasis on straight line speed.
“This is the CTCC’s second 2016 visit to the Shanghai International Circuit and we have been able to improve many aspects, but particularly reliability, using the data collected during the June event,” said Teamwork Motorsport Team Manager, Ken Lui. “Having one of the lightest cars on the grid will certainly help our handling and tyre wear management, but the BoP adjustment will cost us some horsepower so whether we gain or lose out to our rivals is yet unknown.”
The Shanghai round of the SINOPEC LUBRICANTS China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) will be streamed live on the official www.ctcc.com.cn website, where live timings can also be found.
