Both Teamwork Motorsport drivers displayed solid efforts during the opening round of the 2025 TCR China Championship. Richard LI made an impressive charge into the Top 10 in Race 1, while Paul POON secured a respectable fourth place in the Am class in Race 2.
Qualifying
LI, the 2024 TCR China Challenge Drivers’ Champion driving the No. 66 Lynk & Co 03 TCR, completed his first TCR China Championship qualifying session in a competitive twelfth position, while POON placed his No. 668 Lynk & Co P8 in the Am class.
Race 1
Richard LI adeptly maneuvered his way up the field, skillfully gaining two positions with his impressive race pace, ultimately crossing the finish line in a strong tenth place overall in the incident-affected 13-lap Race 1.
A great start for Paul POON propelled him to P6 in the Am class, and he skillfully maintained his momentum to rise to 5th. Unfortunately, POON faced disappointment when contact from another competitor damaged his No. 668 car with just two laps to go, cutting short what could have been a highly promising performance.
Race 2
POON bounced back after the retirement on Saturday. Starting from P8 in Am class, another tremendous getaway propelled him up to P10 overall and 5th in class. His excellent speed allowed him to reach third place in the Am class during the race, but tire wear in the late stages ultimately left him finishing fourth, just one step away from the Am class podium.
LI continued to deliver a stable performance in the 11-lap Sunday Race 2, finishing 11th overall and securing P6 in the Pro category.
Teamwork Motorsport currently ranks fifth in the Clubs’ Cup of TCR China Championship after Round 1 at Shanghai. The tireless efforts of both drivers contributed significantly to the points tally. The second round of the championship is set to take place at Ningbo International Circuit from May 9th to 11th.
