Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport Dominates in Heatwave Battles of Shaoxing

The TCR China Championship ignited its third round of the season at Zhejiang International Circuit, where Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport delivered a masterclass performance under scorching conditions. ZHANG Zhi Qiang and David ZHU stood on the podium in both races, with ZHANG securing pole position and a commanding victory in Race 1, while Sunny WONG fought hard to score valuable points in both rounds.

Qualifying

All three Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport drivers advanced to Qualifying 2. ZHANG Zhi Qiang unleashed a blistering lap to claim overall Pole Position, with David ZHU locking in P3 and Sunny WONG securing sixth on the grid.

ZHANG’s pole-winning pace left no doubt about his raw speed, but pre-race gremlins struck his car, forcing the team into an engine change. The penalty dropped him five places on the Race 1 grid—adding drama to his charge.

Race 1

The opening race unfolded under extreme conditions, with track temperatures nearing 60°C, pushing drivers and machinery to their limits. ZHANG Zhi Qiang wasted no time carving through the field after his penalty, latching onto the lead battle before a safety car intervention. At the restart, he pounced, seizing the lead with a clinical overtake to take a hard-fought victory.

David ZHU overcame a tough start, slipping back early before mounting a fierce comeback to secure a podium finish in third. Sunny WONG held his ground in a heated midfield scrap, crossing the line fifth to bag solid points.

Race 2

With the reverse grid placing him 10th, ZHANG Zhi Qiang launched another charge, scything through the pack to third before a safety car reshuffled the order. He snatched second at the restart and engaged in a thrilling duel for the lead, ultimately settling for a well-earned runner-up finish.

David ZHU battled back from another tricky start, climbing to fourth before muscling his way onto the podium once again in third. Sunny WONG added more points with a gritty drive to sixth.

With the stellar performance in Shaoxing, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport extends its lead in the Team Championship standings of TCR China Championship. The Lynk & Co 03 TCR remains the car to beat, topping the Model Cup rankings.

With race of Shaoxing conquered, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport rides high into August’s showdown at Ordos International Circuit. The team’s sights are set on more silverware as the championship charges into the grasslands of Inner Mongolia.
