Geely Super Cup PRO Back in Chengdu as Teamwork Motorsport Secures Double Podiums

The Geely Super Cup PRO returned to the Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit, where it hosted the 2025 season opener, to kick off the journey for the second half of the season. Teamwork Motorsport drivers Martin FOO and Adrian LAI secured spots on the podium in two consecutive races, bringing home a runner-up and a third-place finish, which laid a solid foundation for the team’s sprint towards overall honours in the championship.

Qualifying

This weekend marked the second time the series raced on this 3.26-kilometre track featuring 19 corners this season. The qualifying session took place in the rain. Facing challenges from multiple local drivers, the two Teamwork racers held their ground. Martin FOO secured the 9th position overall with a lap time of 1:51.700, while Adrian LAI finished 13th with a time of 1:52.727.

Race 1

The first race of the weekend kicked off on Saturday morning. Martin FOO and Adrian LAI started this round from the 8th and 11th positions respectively thanks to penalties imposed on other drivers. Martin FOO held his position amid the intense battles at the start and engaged in fierce maneuvers with rivals. The race was temporarily interrupted by a safety car procedure following an accident, but Martin maintained a steady rhythm and kept pressure on the opponents, steadily climbing up the rankings and eventually finishing 4th – just one step away from the podium.

After the start, Adrian LAI successfully moved up one position. Later, amid the intense competition filled with unexpected incidents, he kept pushing forward, ultimately finishing 8th. He achieved an improvement of three positions and earned points once again.

Race 2

The second race of the event roared into action on Saturday afternoon. Starting from P8, Martin FOO delivered a blistering launch off the line, carving through the field to climb positions in the opening lap, seizing P6 overall. He then plunged into the chaotic multi-car battle within the mid-pack to advance further into P3. A temporary setback saw Martin slip to P4, but the driver responded immediately as he capitalized on a critical opportunity to reclaim a podium spot. Crossing the line in P3, he locked in his first podium of the weekend, and a post-race penalty handed to a fellow competitor bumped him up to P2.

Starting from the 13th position, Adrian LAI charged forward to 10th place overall right after the race began. He then engaged in duels with experienced opponents; although his ranking fluctuated, he still managed to improve his position and finished 12th.

Race 3

Martin FOO again shined at the start of the endurance race, jumping to P6 after the first lap completed. When the pit window opened, he chose a late-stop strategy, moving up further to take P3, maintained a steady pace in the second half of the race to claim third place, securing back-to-back podiums in Chengdu!

Adrian LAI moved up one position in the opening phase of the race. Later, his ranking fluctuated amid intense battles. Halfway through the race, he encountered challenges and was unable to make further breakthroughs.

With the Chengdu weekend concluded, Geely Super Cup PRO’s latest standings showed Teamwork Motorsport tied for P3 in the Teams’ Standings. The squad has vowed to bring full intensity to the remaining two rounds, aiming to break through the fierce competition and climb higher.

Geely Super Cup PRO will return to Ningbo International Speedpark for its next round this October. All eyes are on Teamwork Motorsport to deliver more standout results.
