Shanghai Double Seals Teams’ Championship for Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport

The 2025 TCR China Championship returned to the Shanghai International Circuit from September 19th to 21st for the fifth round of the season. Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport once again delivered a stellar performance in the high-stakes Shanghai showdown, with Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport claiming Team’s Cup victories in both races and leading to an early-crowned Teams’ Championship, as ZHANG Zhi Qiang and David ZHU brought home one victory and three podiums in total.

The Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport continues its championship campaign at Jiading, the penultimate round of the TCR China season, presenting its winning lineup of David ZHU, ZHANG Zhi Qiang, and Sunny WONG. Heading into the weekend, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport held a significant lead in the Team’s Championship standings, while the Driver’s Championship title fight had become an internal battle between David ZHU and ZHANG Zhi Qiang.

Qualifying

David ZHU delivered a commanding performance in qualifying, setting the fastest time in Q2 to secure pole position with a lap time of 2:11.807. ZHANG Zhi Qiang put in a solid effort, finishing fourth after being hampered by traffic in the final stages of the session. Sunny WONG, who qualified for Q2, suffered from a mechanical issue at the beginning of the pole battle and was unable to extract the maximum from his car, qualified in 12th position.

Race 1

In the first race, David ZHU faced challenges at the start and temporarily dropped down the rankings. However, he fought back relentlessly and, together with ZHANG Zhi Qiang, pushed their way up to the top two positions on the track.

Although two drivers of Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport later made mistakes that led to a collision, David ZHU still managed to climb back to second place overall and claimed the runner-up spot in this race. ZHANG Zhi Qiang overcame car issues to finish in 10th place, earning valuable points. Starting from the 10th position, Sunny WONG made consistent progress throughout the race and concluded the first round in 5th place.

Race 2

After navigating the challenges of the first race, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport delivered a well-coordinated performance in the second race on Sunday. Starting from 7th position, ZHANG Zhi Qiang charged his way up to the top of the field. Meanwhile, David ZHU, who started from 10th, made efficient progress right after the race began to secure second place overall.

The drivers of Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport maintained a steady performance throughout the weekend, maintaining the top two positions and crossing the finish line side by side. Among them, ZHANG Zhi Qiang claimed the victory of Race 2, and David ZHU finished as the runner-up. Sunny WONG also improved his ranking, starting from the 12th position and finishing in 7th place.

After the Shanghai-Jiading event, David ZHU continues to lead the Drivers’ Championship with 381 points, followed by ZHANG Zhi Qiang with 357 points. Thanks to the outstanding performance from the Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport trio, the team has secured the Teams’ Championship title with one round to spare.

Looking ahead, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport is set to go all out at the season’s final showdown, which will unfold at Zhuzhou International Circuit from October 31st to November 2nd. With the ultimate glory of the Drivers’ Championship on the line, the team is poised to leave nothing on the track, fighting with unwavering determination to clinch the highly coveted title.
