The Geely Super Cup PRO kicked off its second round of the season at Zhejiang International Circuit at Shaoxing. Teamwork Motorsport delivered another impressive performance as all three drivers successfully completed the challenging races amidst alternating extreme heat and heavy rain. YANG Haoyu shone in the rain-affected second race, clinching third place with a stellar performance.
Qualifying
The Shaoxing qualifying session began under blazing sunshine. Martin FOO excelled in the high temperatures, securing fourth overall and a second-row starting position for Saturday. YANG Haoyu locked in seventh place after a fierce lap-time battle, while LI Dayuan also performed well, qualifying eleventh.
Race 1
Race 1 started under sweltering conditions. Martin FOO made a strong start, quickly moving up to second place and launching attacks on the leader. Despite relentless pressure from behind, he held onto second until the checkered flag. However, a 10-second penalty ultimately placed him fourth – just shy of the podium but marking his personal best in the series.
YANG Haoyu maintained his position after the start and engaged in intense battles, finishing seventh. Meanwhile, LI Dayuan briefly broke into the top ten, gaining valuable experience and improving to tenth by the race’s end.
Race 2
The wet conditions posed significant challenges for the drivers in Race 2. A heavy downpour before the race caused several cars to go off during the warm-up lap, which illustrated the difficulties of racing in wet weather. The safety car led the field at the start, but YANG Haoyu took advantage of the situation and climbed to third place. Despite multiple incidents throughout the race, he maintained his position and achieved a well-deserved podium finish!
LI Dayuan started tenth and steadily advanced, achieving an impressive sixth place. Martin FOO drove cautiously in the tricky conditions, overcoming the challenges to finish the race.
Race 3
The endurance race of the weekend took place under extreme heat. YANG Haoyu, starting from the front row, faced early challenges and dropped back. However, he fought hard through multiple intense battles and ultimately crossed the line in seventh.
LI Dayuan started tenth but quickly moved into the top ten. Amid the chaos, he continued his upward climb, finishing ninth in the end. Martin FOO started fifth and initially climbed as high as third. However, a 60-second penalty for short mandatory pit stop time relegated him to eleventh.
With outstanding performances, Teamwork Motorsport’s trio successfully concluded the Shaoxing round. We look forward to more brilliant displays from the team in the next battle at Zhuzhou International Circuit!
