Unstoppable in the rain: Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport claims two championships in season finale

From October 23 to 25, the 2026 FIA TCR World Tour and CTCC (China Touring Car Championship) reached a thrilling climax at the Zhejiang round. Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport deployed a star-studded lineup consisting of David Zhu, Zhang Zhiqiang, Sunny Wong, and guest driver Elvis Han. Amidst the persistent Jiangnan mist and rain, the team weathered the grueling tests of qualifying and two races, ultimately taking home multiple accolades from the weekend and sealing the Teams’ and Drivers’ Championship titles.

Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport assembled a highly competitive roster in Zhejiang. The top three drivers in the Driver Championship standings—David Zhu, Sunny Wong, and Zhang Zhiqiang—joined forces once again, while highly anticipated driver Elvis Han made a dazzling return, injecting even more spotlight and energy into this champion squad.

During the qualifying session in Zhejiang, complex weather and a slippery track posed a major challenge for all competitors. Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport rose to the occasion, displaying exceptional adaptability. David Zhu delivered a steady performance to secure second place overall, locking out a front-row start. Sunny Wong and Zhang Zhiqiang finished fourth and twelfth, respectively, while Elvis Han continuously adapted to post strong lap times, finishing thirteenth.

Race 1: Breakthrough in the rain, steady strategy gained an edge

The Race 1 of the Zhejiang round kicked off amidst a drizzle. Facing a slick track, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport demonstrated mature tactical execution. Starting from 11th on the grid, Zhang Zhiqiang charged through the field, relying on a rock-solid performance in the rain to carve his way through and claim victory. David Zhu rose to the challenge to secure third place, while Sunny Wong drove a solid race to finish fourth. Elvis Han demonstrated exceptional pace and perseverance throughout the race, though he encountered challenges amidst the intense pack racing.

After the race, Zhang Zhiqiang shared: “I am very grateful to Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport for supporting me. The entire season has been quite bumpy for me with multiple unexpected incidents, and I made a mistake in Friday’s qualifying, but I always believed in myself. Everyone performed exceptionally well in Race 1, leaving room for each other during close battles, and I am very happy to finish safely. At the same time, congratulations to the team once again on achieving such outstanding results.”

Thanks to the significant points lead built up over the season, David Zhu secured the Drivers’ Championship title with one race to spare. David Zhu noted: “Despite the light rain, there was heavy standing water on the track. In light of our points tally, I only needed to finish in the top eight to secure the championship, so I adopted a relatively conservative strategy. Li Guanghua was very fast, and I kept pace with him throughout the race. After the safety car came out, visibility on the left side was extremely poor due to mist on the windshield, forcing me to open the window to barely observe road conditions. Despite this, I finished successfully and achieved a good result; this outcome is just perfect.”

Race 2: Executing a strategic gambit, the team overcame adversity to seal championships

In Race 2, the unpredictable weather kept testing the team’s tactics. The rain stopped before the start, leaving a drying yet tricky circuit where tire strategy decided the race. Given the conditions on the grid, the majority went with rain tires, but rivals who rolled the dice on slicks gained the upper hand in the closing laps.

Facing numerous challenges, David Zhu held his ground under pressure, crossing the finish line in third place. Zhang Zhiqiang also maintained a steady performance, finishing fourth, while Sunny Wong placed thirteenth. Elvis Han maintained his aggressive pace throughout the race, running as high as the top three in his class at one point, but unfortunately encountered trouble again during the fierce mid-pack scuffles and was unable to finish.

David Zhu commented after the race: “Our wet tire choice for Race 2 wasn’t ideal, and luck wasn’t on our side. In the middle of the race, cars ahead on slicks disrupted our pace and pulled away. Then a contact affected my handling and chassis setup, but I managed to bring it home safely. Our team has once again swept both the Teams’ and Drivers’ Championships this season, and I am very satisfied with the performance across the entire year.”

Backed by an impeccable and consistent performance all season long and a spectacular showing at this round, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport successfully captured both the Teams’ and Drivers’ Championship titles. David Zhu successfully defended his Drivers’ Championship, while teammates Zhang Zhiqiang and Sunny Wong secured the runner-up and third-place honors in the driver standings, respectively. This achievement marks 16 titles in 7 years for Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport”.

From early struggles to a finale victory, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport has proven its absolute dominance through strength and heritage. This champion squad will carry its glory and experience into the new season, ready to write the next brilliant chapter on the track.
