Two Wins and a Podium in Chengdu! Teamwork Motorsport’s Martin Foo Secures Dominant Overall Victory

From October 16 to 18, the fifth round of TCR China concluded at the Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit. Teamwork Motorsport delivered a standout performance this weekend. Martin Foo first clinched a third-place finish in the Rookie Cup in Race 1, and then climbed to the top step of the podium in Race 2 to claim the Driver’s Cup and Rookie Cup titles, alongside the Michelin Pilot Sport Star Award. With a haul of “two wins and a podium,” he demonstrated his ongoing progress to be a top-tier driver.

Moving from the Rookie Cup podium to the overall championship, Martin Foo achieved a major milestone in his racing career. This breakthrough is not only the result of the driver’s own hard work but also reflects Teamwork Racing School’s ongoing accumulation of expertise in driver development: through systematic training, on-track racing, and professional team support, the academy empowers drivers to continuously hone their driving techniques, improve their mastery of race pace, and enhance their adaptability on the fly, turning passion into competitiveness on the track.

Race 1: Martin Foo Captures Rookie Trophy

In Saturday’s Race 1, Li Guanghua started from sixth position and moved up to third overall during the start thanks to an aggressive attack. However, as the race entered a fierce battle phase, the situation among the leading group intensified, and after experiencing successive collisions, his position dropped to seventh. Although he promptly adjusted his pace and finished the race, he was unable to mount another effective attack, ultimately crossing the finish line in seventh place overall.

On the other side, Martin Foo, steadily held his ground in the midfield group. Faced with frequent track incidents and a complex situation, he remained calm throughout and maintained his racing pace, ultimately capturing third place in the Rookie Cup and securing Teamwork Motorsport’s first trophy of the Chengdu weekend.

Race 2: Martin Foo Claims Maiden Overall Victory

Sunday’s final featured a reverse-grid rule. Li Guanghua started from fifth place, but once again entangled in a collision incident, which affected his car and ultimately forced him to regretfully withdraw from the remainder of the race.

Starting from second on the grid, Martin Foo completed an overtake to climb to the overall lead by lap seven. Facing continuous pressure from the professional-class drivers Huff and Zhu behind him, Foo raced with composure, maintained his lead all the way to the finish line, and stepped onto the top step of the podium as the overall winner. He swept the Driver’s Cup, the Rookie Cup, and the Michelin Pilot Star Award, achieving his first-ever overall victory and marking a major milestone in his racing career.

Reflecting on his first win of the season, Martin Foo shared: “This victory is of great significance to me. It is a recognition of my persistence and would not have been possible without the dedication of the Teamwork Motorsport in car setup and technical support. My wife and children were also here on site; being able to take the overall victory in front of my family and share the podium with David Zhu and Rob Huff makes this experience extra precious.”

From Rookie to Champion: Teamwork Racing School Witnesses Growth

As an standout driver at the Teamwork Racing School’s advanced training program, Martin Foo has accumulated experience and refined his skills through wheel-to-wheel combats, continuously improving his instant judgment and adaptability. This maiden overall victory is both the result of his continuous learning and breakthroughs, and a showcase of his growth and transformation from professional training to racing with top-tier drivers.

Speaking on this journey of growth, Martin Foo noted: “From a driver at the Teamwork Racing School to taking the overall victory, I feel my biggest change is that I have evolved from a ‘young driver chasing speed’ into a ‘mature driver capable of comprehensive thinking.’ I have started learning to think about the race from a holistic perspective, including tire temperature management, long-distance pace control, offense and defense strategies, and precise, effective feedback and communication with engineers. This is a process of continuous accumulation that ultimately transforms a quantitative change into a qualitative leap.”

Teamwork Racing School will continue to rely on its professional training system and on track experience to provide a pathway for racing enthusiasts, helping more drivers improve their driving skills, accumulate racing experience, and gradually advance to higher-level competitions.

The battles in Chengdu have drawn to a close, and the 2026 season is also about to usher in its season finale. Teamwork Motorsport will head to the Zhejiang International Circuit for a final sprint toward season honors. See you at the track from October 23 to 25!
