From September 11–13, the fourth round of the 2026 CTCC China Touring Car Championship ignited at the Shanghai International Circuit. Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport delivered an exceptional performance across two intense races of the TCR China Championship, securing multiple driver and team honors.
In Race 1, Sunny Wong fought aggressively, cutting through the field with spectacular overtakes to secure overall 3rd place. Lynk & Co guest driver Daniel Wu also demonstrated strong pace, claiming 2nd place in the Rookie Cup. In Race 2, Elvis Han made a powerful comeback after a DNF on day one, grabbing 3rd place in the Rookie Cup. Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport swept the Teams’ championship across both races, while the Lynk & Co 03+ TCR race car locked in both Models’ championship.
Fierce Battles: Sunny Wong Takes Overall Podium, Daniel Wu Claims First TCR China Trophy
Saturday afternoon marked the start of Race 1. Sunny Wong launched off the line, surging from 13th to 5th place on the opening lap. Elvis Han broke into the top three of the Rookie Cup early on, while Daniel Wu also gained positions.
As the race progressed, the team’s drivers pressed forward through wheel-to-wheel battles. Wong broke into the top three during the final sprint to earn an overall 3rd-place finish. Daniel Wu delivered a impressive performance, driving steadily throughout to claim 2nd place in the Rookie Cup, marking his first-ever TCR China podium. Drivers Zhang Zhiqiang and David Zhu drove solid races to finish 6th and 7th overall, bringing home valuable points. Although Han suffered a late incident resulting in a DNF, his early pace highlighted strong potential.
“Coming into the Forth round of TCR China in Shanghai, our car didn’t have much of a straight-line advantage,” Wong noted after the race. “The team worked incredibly hard on setup, especially for long-distance race pace, finding an ideal balance. Big thanks to my teammates as well. I started quite far back, but made up several spots right after the start, and they kept the other drivers at bay so I could push hard to secure 3rd place overall.”
Reflecting on his podium finish, Daniel Wu joked: “There were quite a few incidents out there today. Thanks to my years of sim racing experience, I made the right calls, successfully avoided the crashed cars, and came away with the runner-up trophy. Thanks to Lynk & Co and Teamwork Motorsport; my teammates taught me a lot. Transitioning from GT cars to the front-wheel-drive Lynk & Co 03+ TCR takes time, but I felt more comfortable as the race went on, and today was sort of my best drive yet.”
Breakthrough: Elvis Han Earns Maiden TCR China Trophy
Starting near the back of the grid for Sunday’s Race 2, Han executed a series of quick overtakes to climb up to 5th in class by the end of lap one. Maintaining an aggressive posture, he sliced through the pack to finish 12th overall and 3rd in the Rookie Cup, marking his first TCR China podium. Wong carved through the field once more, battling fiercely to finish 4th, just shy of the overall podium.
Early in the reverse grid race, David Zhu and Zhang Zhiqiang briefly led the field. However, compensation weight took a heavy toll on tire wear, slowing their long-stint rhythm; Zhu crossed the line in 7th, with Zhang finishing 9th. Wu unfortunately suffered a mechanical issue at the start and was forced to retire.
Reflecting on his milestone achievement in TCR China, Han shared: “I had a chance at a class podium yesterday, but a late spin and crash tested my mindset. I always believed the Lynk & Co 03+ TCR had podium pace. I drove smoothly in Race 2, and luck was finally on my side. I love racing and hope to pursue it as a second career while doing my part to promote Chinese motorsport. The Rookie Cup is fiercely competitive. Many drivers’ lap times are right on par with seasoned pros, so getting a podium here isn’t easy. I’ll be pushing for even better results next time.”
Following the Shanghai round, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport firmly commands the top three spots in the 2026 TCR China Drivers’ Championship, led by David Zhu, Sunny Wong, and Zhang Zhiqiang respectively. In the Teams’ Championship, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport continues to hold the top spot with a dominant lead over second place.
For the next round from October 16–18, TCR China will visit the Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit for the first time, joining forces with the FIA TCR World Tour to compete alongside the world’s best drivers. Facing this upcoming challenge, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport will prepare meticulously to fight for even greater breakthroughs and top honors.
