From August 7–9, the 2026 CTCC China Touring Car Championship held its third round at the Ordos International Circuit. Competing in the TCR China, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport’s four-driver lineup—Zhang Zhi Qiang, David Zhu, Sunny Wong, and Elvis Han—took to the grassland circuit behind the wheel of the all-new Lynk & Co 03+ TCR race cars.
Faced with the high altitude, soaring temperatures, and dramatic elevation changes, Zhang Zhiqiang dominated the first race from pole position to take the overall win. David Zhu carved his way through the field in the reverse-grid second race to secure an overall runner-up finish. Sunny Wong drove a solid, consistent race to collect valuable points, while Elvis Han was hampered by mechanical issues and track incidents, missing out on a strong result.
Heading to the Grasslands: Lynk & Co 03+ TCR Debuts at Ordos
This round marked the debut of the Lynk & Co 03+ TCR at the classic northern highland circuit. During official test sessions and free practice, changing weather from rain to sunshine led to fluctuating track grip levels, posing significant prep challenges. Through multiple test runs, the team systematically gathered data, fine-tuning the setup to match shifting ambient temperatures and track conditions.
Qualifying kicked off on Friday with Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport showcasing their championship lineage by locking out the front row. Zhang Zhiqiang snatched pole position, while David Zhu qualified second. Sunny Wong put in a strong lap to take fourth overall, and Elvis Han qualified 14th overall (5th in the Rookie Cup). Highlighting the formidable pace of the all-new Lynk & Co 03+ TCR, Zhang Zhiqiang set a benchmark time of 1:48.909, breaking his own TCR lap record and setting a new ultimate limit at the horse-shaped Circuit in Ordos.
Two Race Showdowns: Zhang and Zhu Take the Podium
In Saturday’s Race 1, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport controlled the lead group, with Zhang, Zhu, and Wong staging a thrilling intra-team battle. Zhang ultimately came out on top to secure his third win of the season. Post-race five-second penalties dropped Zhu and Wong to fourth and seventh overall, respectively, costing them a podium finish. Han drove aggressively through fierce midfield battles before a sudden mechanical glitch cut his race short.
“Our new car performed brilliantly here,” Zhang noted post-race. “The track features many long corners, but the chassis balance was great in both wet and dry conditions. After the first two rounds, we’ve dialed in our baseline setup, and the car has plenty of speed. The team executed flawlessly under the heat, and I’m thrilled to take another win in Ordos.”
Sunday’s Race 2 started with a multi-car collision off the line, triggering a red flag. Both Zhang and Han were caught up in the incident; Zhang’s car suffered heavy damage, forcing him to retire. During the stoppage, the pit crew frantically repaired Han’s car, allowing him to rejoin the restart.
Once racing resumed, Zhu and Wong launched a rapid charge. Zhu executed several decisive overtakes to close in on the leader, ultimately finishing as overall runner-up as laps ran out. Wong delivered a steady long-run pace to cross the line fourth, just shy of the podium. Han battled valiantly in his damaged car, but compounding mechanical issues from the earlier crash forced an eventual retirement.
“The big crash at the start triggered a red flag, and after the restart, I drove somewhat conservatively since the cars ahead were teammates and fellow Lynk & Co drivers,” Zhu said. “With a late safety car and high tire degradation, plus running heavy ballast this weekend, it was a tough fight. Pulling off late overtakes to bring home second is a great result. Huge thanks to Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport for their support.”
Despite a tough weekend on paper, Han demonstrated brilliant overtaking maneuvers, fighting his way from the back to the lead pack in Race 1 before incidents derailed his pace.
With Round 3 in Ordos wrapped up, Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport leaves with a victory and a runner-up trophy. The championship next moves to the Shanghai International Circuit for Round 4 on September 11–13.
