Jean-Karl Vernay joined Teamwork Motorsport this weekend (7-8 October) as the TCR China series travelled to the new tight and twisty Zhejiang Circuit for the first time and quite a weekend it proved to be with the TCR International star recording a debut victory.
After a five weeks break, Teamwork returns to round 3 of the TCR China series with the Grantt supported Golf TCRs at the new Zhejiang Circuit. This new 3.2-kilometer FIA-certified Grade 2 circuit features 16 corners with 22 meters of elevation. With the small & twisty layout, the team is confident that the Golf TCR will adapt to this circuit better than the Shanghai F1 circuit in the previous two rounds.
The brand new TCR China series kicked off in Shanghai International Circuit under extreme heat, and Teamwork Motorsport showed their pace by bringing home five podium trophies among its three cars and six drivers.
In the past weekend, Teamwork Suncity Trio, Paul Poon and Samson Fung each claimed a 2nd in both rounds, while Alex Fung finished in 4th and 5th. Each driver earned valuable qualification points for November’s Macau GP.
Teamwork Motorsport is set to expand its TCR programme in response to a swell of interest in the formula.
The 63rd Macau Grand Prix yielded a momentous sixth victory for Paul Poon and the Teamwork Motorsport-run Suncity Group Racing squad in the CTM Macau Touring Car Cup, while Kevin Tse rounded-out a remarkable 2016 season by finishing runner-up in the fledgling TCR Asia Series (17-20 November).

With a strong third position finish for Sunny Wong in the season finale at the Shanghai Tianma Circuit on Sunday (6 November, 2016) Teamwork Motorsport were crowned 2016 Independent Team Champion in the 2016 SINOPEC LUBRICANTS China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) finale 2.0T class.
