Suncity Racing Team in Macau GP
We've had a successful start at Macau, with Paul Poon topping the time sheets in the Peugeot RCZ in the official practice session for this year's Macau Grand Prix FOOD4U Macau Touring Car Cup.
Poon's time of 2:35.502 placed him fastest, while Alex Fung was the next-best of Teamwork's drivers in sixth in the second of the Peugeot RCZs.
"It was a good lap, and it was hard to get because there's so much traffic," said Poon, reflecting on the 36-car field in this year's event.
"I have to hope I get a good lap tomorrow, and also we have to hope that it doesn't rain, although it looks possible. It's rained the last two years and that's signalled the end for us, our car is front-wheel drive and can't compete with all-wheel drive in the wet."
Alex Fung was the next-best placed for Teamwork Motorsport in sixth, but admitted the high-powered RCZ was struggling for grip up the hill on the newly resurfaced tarmac.
Samson Fung, in the Audi TTS was eighth fastest in his entry, three seconds later.
Andrew Lo was fourth in the third of the team's Peugeots, 11.4 seconds behind, while Sunny Wong was sufferting with a waste gate-related power iissue.
Next up is qualifying at 10:40 CST tomorrow.
