Battle of Macau : Peugeot RCZ's secret
Today marks the 100 days countdown of the 65th Macau GP. Teamwork presents you a race car that brought us many success stories in recent years Macau GP, the Suncity Peugeot RCZ. Three Suncity RCZ were first introduced in 2015 HTCC 1.6T class. Since then, they have brought multiple Team’s & Drivers’ titles in HTCC, MTCS, and also 2 Victories, 1 Second, 2 Third place podiums in Macau GP. Every year, the cars would undergone thorough rebuild and upgrades in order to meet regulations change. From a very stock body, to an aero-oriented shape, bigger wheels, wider track, more powerful engine… etc.
Teamwork has been working closely with our technical partner, Gusto Engineering, for the RCZ project. The HK & China based Gusto has been the Official Engine and Chassis supplier for China Touring Car Championship (CTCC). With the specific experience, knowledge, products, and design capabilities, Gusto Engineering designed and provided technical advice to Teamwork Motorsport throughout the entire car-building process. Since then the three Suncity RCZ have claimed many victories and podiums in HTCC, MTCS, and Macau GP.
The story didn’t end there. With the ever changing regulations, in order to stay competitive, development and upgrades never stopped. Teamwork has been utilising summer and winter breaks as opportunities to improve the RCZ. For a few years, we got help from former WTCC Champion and current WTCR contender Robert Huff to be part of the development program. The British driver has been giving the team valuable feedbacks and helped the RCZ to stay on the high ground.
In 2018, the three Suncity RCZ has claimed all the pole positions and won all 4 races in the MTCS 1.6T Class. This year will be the 4th year for them to race on the Guia Circuit, and we look forward to seeing them for another great year in the Macau GP.
